Dear Mr. Dlugosz,

2013-01-29

From Wednesday to Saturday, April 24 to April 27, 2013, Friedrichshafen on the shores of Lake Constance will be, once again, the meeting place for the general aviation community. More than 600 exhibitors from all corners of the world will be presenting their latest products and innovations in an extensive exhibition space measuring more than 80,000 square meters. With more than 200 aircraft on display, AERO will be showcasing the entire spectrum of the latest gliders, ultralights, planes, helicopters, gyrocopters, turboprops and business jets. Visitors to the show can experience the fascinating world of aviation up close.

Furthermore, various new themed areas will be open to the visitors. Whether is be the AEROCareer initiative, which focuses on the recruitment of young talent and qualified personnel, the Avionics Avenue showcasing the full range of innovative products and services and the latest developments, or Observe by Air, a special exhibition dedicated to all aspects of airborne research, there will be something for everybody. And not to forget our established themed areas such as the ENGINE AREA special exhibition, which will take place for the second time this year. Hall A1, the "Gliders Section", will, once again, open its doors and the 2013 AERO Conferences will be offering high-caliber conferences and lectures on all the four days of the trade show. Aeromodeling enthusiasts, young and old, can enjoy the indoor flying displays in the exhibition area of Deutscher Modellflieger Verband (DMFV - German Aeromodeling Association).

And, of course, there will be again the AERO Tent City indoor campground where spur-of-the-moment overnight guests can rent a tent to sleep in...

We look forward to seeing you in Friedrichshafen.
Blue skies and happy landings until then!

Yours sincerely,

AERO project team

AEROCareer – the job fair for general aviation

Young talent recruitment is one of the major and most difficult tasks in general aviation. The "Be(come) a pilot" program of the past years was specifically intended for pupils, students and adults looking for information on private and commercial pilot training opportunities.

AERO will be extending its focus on additional themes this year. The AEROCareer initiative, jointly launched by AERO, aerokurier and FLUG REVUE, will offer a comprehensive range of information about jobs, training options and career prospects in aviation.

Companies and universities present themselves and the job options available and meet and talk with visitors. Various free workshops, traditional and online job boards support all those wishing to enter or develop their careers.

New this year: the Avionics Avenue special exhibition

It´s all about avionics equipment in the new special exhibition area in Hall 6. The Avionics Avenue deals extensively with flight control and management systems, communications systems, navigation devices, weather radar, and air and ground radar systems. Garmin, the global leader in mobile navigation solutions, has committed itself to participating in AERO Friedrichshafen and the “Avionics Avenue” for the next five years. In future, the company will be present in the new exhibition area in Hall 6 and has already announced a number of new products to be displayed at AERO 2013.

Moreover, visitors to the show can try out the latest equipment and applications in the dedicated avionics test area. The “Avionics Avenue” will be rounded off within the Aero Conferences by lectures and workshops on the subject of “The cockpit of the future”.

ENGINE AREA – powered by fliegermagazin

Engines and propulsion systems featured very successfully for the first time at AERO 2012. Within the framework of the Engine Area powered by fliegermagazin, more than 20 exhibitors gave a wide-ranging and succinct presentation of the latest propulsion technology, providing a comprehensive overview of the market.

Once again, the ENGINE AREA at AERO 2013 will be devoted to engines and propulsion systems and the latest technologies and developments in this sector. Whether it be piston engine, electric motor or turbine engine, the special exhibition gives its visitors an overview of the products available on the market. The ENGINE AREA has been extended to include Maintenance and Engine Management as well as alternative and sustainable fuel solutions.

"Observe by Air" special exhibition

AERO 2013, in cooperation with FliegerRevue, will introduce a new special exhibition devoted to a lesser-known but much talked-about issue: airborne research!

Airborne research also plays an important role in general aviation. General aviation aircraft are equipped with sensors and measuring devices and civil UAVs, most commonly known as drones, are used for environmental research and earth observation. The "Observe by Air" special exhibition will feature civil applications and various projects in the field of unmanned and manned airborne research.
